Anne Searing Hermes, 72, Lake Winola passed away on Saturday, November 11, at The Gardens at Tunkhannock, where she was a resident for the past eight months.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, on August 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George Howard Hermes and Dorothy Peterson Hermes. She graduated from high school in Plainfield, New Jersey and received her degree in Art from Marywood University.
Anne was employed by the Abington Community Library. She was active in the Lake Winola Cottagers Association and had been editor of the association's weekly summer newspaper. She was also a member of the Lake Winola United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Anne was an artistic person who loved to draw, paint, knit, crochet, build bookshelves or anything else she saw that she liked and could duplicate. She loved Lake Winola and its changing seasons.
Anne's friend, Joanne Stetz, would like to thank the staff and Dr. Russell at The Gardens at Tunkhannock for their loving and compassionate care of Anne during this journey. She would also like to thank her family and friends, especially Mary Stoko, for their support.
Surviving are cousins Mrs. Avis Pattishall, Hershey, Pennsylvania and Tom Morrow, Middlebury, Vermont.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Lawrence Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mill City.
