Anne E Ames passed peacefully with her daughter, Kelly, by her side on August 7, 2014 at the VNA Hospice in Scranton.

She was born on September 23, 1939 in Easton-on-the-Hill, England. She came to the US in 1961 with her first husband, Mr. Blair Pickering, NC.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Philip, in December 2009; her mother Sybil, January 2009, Wilby, England; and her brother, David, Australia.

Anne is survived by her loving sister Susan and her husband John Starmer, England; her children, Mrs. Wendy Willard and her husband Tony, Florida; Mrs. Kelly J Rotell and her husband Vince, Clarks Summit, with whom she resided before her death; her grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Eric; Kristen; Katy; Erin; Vinnie; Timothy and wife Michele; and Geronimo (Nemo) . She is now guardian angel to five, soon to be six great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by several nieces, nephews and friends around the world.

Anne was a remarkable and independent woman, having owned her own fabric store at a very young age; as well as, being a self-taught seamstress and florist. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling to Mexico and fishing the Delaware River with her best friend and husband, Phil. She was very proud of her English heritage. She would greet everyone with, "'Ello, Luv." Her greatest pleasure was having a "cuppa" tea and spending time with her grandchildren who adored her.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held at Lawrence E Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 5 - 7 pm with a Memorial Service to follow. A reception will be held at the home of her daughter, Kelly, 135 Kimberly Circle, Clarks Summit, PA.

The family would like to especially thank all the Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the G-CMC and the VNA Hospice in Scranton, for their compassion and kindness during her recent illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a random act of kindness be performed in honor of Anne, as she had done for others often throughout her exemplary life.
