Ann Marie Werner, 90, of Clarks Summit, died Sunday at Holy Family Residence. She was the wife of the late Norbert Charles Werner, who died in November 1987.
Born Feb. 28, 1920, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Pius and Antoinette Chibirka. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Lackawanna Junior College. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit, where she participated in the Women's Guild.
Ann cherished her family, and her greatest joy was time spent surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was honored by family and friends in February at her 90th birthday celebration.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Brister, Clarks Summit; three sons, Robert and wife, Barbara, Clinton, N.C.; William and wife, Susan, Chesterfield, Va., and David and wife, Stephanie, Ashland, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Lori and Karen Brister, Lisa Werner, Lindsay Rouse, Eric and Ross Werner, Michele Stehle and Kristen Gibson; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Paul.
The funeral Mass is in the chapel at Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton, on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call Tuesday, 3 to 7 p.m., in the Maloney Lounge at Holy Family. Ann's family extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone at Holy Family Residence for their kindness and compassion during her stay.
