Angelo Guzzi, Sr., 85, of So. Abington Twp. died Wednesday morning at home. He is survived by his wife Jo. The couple has been married for 58 years.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian Cianflone Guzzi. After graduation, he attended Johnson School and was a well known self employed general contractor in the area. He was the founder and former owner-operator of A. J. Guzzi General Contractors. He was a proud veteran of the U S Navy and a man of the Catholic faith.
Angelo enjoyed golfing at Glen Oak and Scranton Country Clubs, and at his second home in Venice, Florida.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rubin, Dr. Gryn and Allied Hospice for their compassionate care of Angelo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Angelo, Pottsville, PA, Robert and his wife Catherine, Dalton, and Michael and his companion, Michele Ruthkosky, Olyphant; a daughter Angela Coleman, So. Abington Twp; sisters, Yolanda Zimmerer and her husband Thomas and Mary Hudson, Patricia Suits and her husband Roger, all of NJ; brothers, Jimmy and Billy Lepre both of Carbondale; and one grandchild, Ashley Coleman .
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Sammy Guzzi and a sister, Rose Minutello.
Entombment will take place at Glenwood Mausoleum, Morgan Highway at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Allied Services, 100 Abington Executive Park, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA.
