A founding member of the Senior Citizens' Center on Winola Road, she was a Board member and Secretary from 1989 to 1999. In 1999 she wrote and had published a book called " A Brief History of the Abington Senior Center".

An excellent seamstress, she worked in many dress and blouse factories, but held her longest position of over 20 years as a Floorlady for Irene Sportswear in Nicholson until her retirement. She continued to sew for family members and friends up until she moved to the Abington Manor. She always found something to do with her hands, whether it was sewing or arts and crafts.
