Andrew B. Gardner, 82, of Thompson, died on Wednesday night at Allied Hospice in Scranton.  His wife is the author Trebbe Johnson.  The couple married in 1986.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Burleigh B. and Mary Ruby Gardner.  He was an artist and graphic designer and a member of the Thompson Borough Council for over 25 years.  He taught Tai Chi and was chairman of the Florence Shelly Preserve Wetlands Stewardship Committee and a founding member of SCAN in Susquehanna County.

Also surviving are two sons, Jared Gardner of Ohio, and Damion Gardner of New York; a daughter Justine Gardner of New York; and four grandsons, Eli, Gideon, Isaiah, and Augustus (Gus).

He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Gardner.

In consideration of the Coronavirus, there will be a memorial "outdoor open house" in a few weeks.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
