Andrea Joy Jenkins, 58 of Clarks Summit was welcomed into heaven on July 21 st , 2019. She was the wife of Edward Jenkins.
Born in Lincoln, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Sharon (Buck) Leavitt. She attended Penobscot Valley High School where she excelled athletically. She was proud of winning the Class C, Eastern State Championship in girls' basketball, scoring the game high29 points. She scored over 1000 points during 3 seasons. Andrea was a three year letterman and twice All State, winning the state tournament MVP in 1977. She was very proud to have played alongside her older sister, Shawn Leavitt Campbell, who she always said was the rugged defensive star on the team. Andrea also earned multiple letters and all-star honors in softball.
She graduated from Abington Heights in 1979 after moving to Clarks Summit where she met the love of her life, Edward Jenkins. Together they raised a family which was the pride and joy of her life. She previously had worked as the Assistant Produce Manager for the former Rainbow Market. She constantly stayed in touch with her children and grandchildren to make sure she was always up to date of their current doings.
Andrea loved reminiscing about her summers at the family camp site on the North shore of Seboeis Lake, Maine. She spent summers water skiing and winters snowmobiling. Andrea held her family in Maine close to her heart and always kept those memories dear to her. Andrea was a die hard Patriots and Red Sox fan, and had an unique and infectious laugh that will never be forgotten.
Also surviving are three children, Christopher and wife April, Brian and wife Julie, and Kori Russo and husband Anthony Russo II; a brother Scott Leavitt, and wife Cherie; and eight grandchildren Mackenzie, Gwendolyn, Logan, Vivienne, Brian Jr., Madelyn, Skylar and Anthony III and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister Shawn Campbell.
The family will receive friends Thursday August 1, 2019 from 5PM to 7PM at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
