Alyce V. Burke, Ransom Twp. died Friday afternoon at the Mountain View Care Center.  She was 86-years-old. She was the widow of Warren Burke.

Born in Newton Twp., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Eva Krenitsky Jacoby.  Prior to her retirement she was a teacher's aide at Abington Heights in the Newton Ransom Elementary School as well as an aide at the St. Joseph's Parochial School in North Scranton.  Alyce was among the first graduating classes at Newton Ransom High School.  She was a member of the Countryside Community Church which was formerly Milwaukee United Methodist Church.

Alyce enjoyed her independence, taking care of her home, spending time with her pets and watching the many birds she attracted to her feeders. She had a green thumb for gardening and loved tending to her many flower beds and house plants. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, Erin and Jake, who she cared for during the day when they were children.

Surviving are a son, Kevin Burke and his wife Sharon, Newton Twp.; granddaughter, Erin LaFever and her husband Matthew, Ukiah, CA; and grandson Jacob Burke, Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Romayne Bedell and Lois Dunleavy and a brother, Leon Jacoby, who died in childhood.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.  Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.
