Alfred Palumbo, 91, of Clarks Summit, died Monday at Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice of NEPA at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife, Gertrude Ellen Leonard Palumbo, died in 1986.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Raffelina Caracciola Palumbo. A graduate of Benton High School, he was in the restaurant business for more than 30 years. He was the owner of Palumbo's Inn, North Abington Twp., a well-known gathering place where patrons enjoyed Al's personal treatment, good food, great conversation and loyal friendship.
He is survived by a daughter, Wendy and husband, Richard Calogero, Clarks Summit; two sons, John and companion, Kathy Macmillan, Clarks Green; and George and wife, Theresa Palumbo, California; a brother, Larry Palumbo, Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Natalie Foley, Harrison, N.J.; three granddaughters, Melissa Calogero, Deanna and husband, Eric Jordan; and Chelsea Palumbo; and his companion, Debbie Saar.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, William and John Palumbo; and a sister, Lucy Mastropasqua.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Friends attending are asked to go directly to the church.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
