Alfred F. Maletsky Sr., 95, died Wednesday at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, where he had been a resident for eight years. His wife, the former Arlene Francis Inderelst, died June 3, 1997.
Born Aug. 15, 1916, in Easton, son of Polish and German immigrants, the late Boleslaw Maletsky (Malecki) and Martha Rapko Maletsky, he was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1934
He was a member of the Chinchilla Methodist Church, Chinchilla. In his lifetime, his vocations included wholesale food distribution and a salesman for Encyclopedias Americana and Britannica. Also, for many years, he sold land and building lots, as well as existing and new- construction homes. He proudly attained his Pennsylvania real estate license at age 65 and retired in his mid-70s.
He had previously resided for three years at Elan Gardens, Clarks Summit, after having relocated to Northeast Pennsylvania from Allentown.
Throughout his lifetime, he also resided in Philadelphia, Effort, Nazareth and in his hometown of Easton.
Mountain View Care Center, and especially the staff of Camelot, will always be remembered by Mr. Maletsky's family for continually providing an environment of compassion and friendship, respect and dignity.
Surviving are a son, Alfred F. Maletsky Jr. and wife, Susan, Sonora, Calif.; a daughter, Joanne M. Owens and husband, John H., Scott Twp.; a sister, Betty M. Silagyi, Easton; a brother, Paul Maletsky and wife, Edith, Aston; four grandchildren, Sophia A. Stohler and husband, Scott, South San Francisco; Freda B. Maletsky, Oakland, Calif.; Brent C. Owens, Baltimore; and Matthew E. Owens and wife, Candice M., Hagerstown, Md.; two great-grandchildren, Casey M. and Jack R. Owens, Hagerstown, Md.; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a great-great-nephew.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Maletsky Sr.; and a sister, Edith Maletsky Devers.
