Aldy Ann Berquist, Clarks Summit, died Friday morning at the Linwood Nursing Home in Scranton.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Paul and Mary Phyllis Gowell. She was a 1968 graduate of Abington Heights High School and then attended Cedar Crest College, receiving her bachelor's degree in English and Education from the California State University Sacramento. She was employed as an English teacher for the California School System and later Abington Heights School District. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit. Aldy was proudest of her daughter with whom she shared her passion for both cooking and teaching.
Surviving is a daughter Sarah Berquist, Hadley, Mass.; a brother Wy Gowell, S. Abington Twp.; two nephews Michael and Andrew Gowell and two nieces Julia and Meredith Gowell.
A memorial service will be on Wednesday at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School St. with service by the Rev. William Carter, pastor. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
