Albert G. Zeiss, 100, of Ransom Township died Thursday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. His wife is the former Audrey Whitehouse, the couple had been married for 77 years.

Born in Milwaukee, Ransom Twp., he was the son of the late Christopher and Jennie Gleason Zeiss. He was a graduate of Johnson School, and earned his Master's Degree in Science and Mathematics from Penn State University. Most of his teaching career was spent at Kingston High School; he also taught at Johnson School and prior to retirement, he worked at Schuylkill County Adult Vo-Tech. He was a proud Navy veteran serving in the Pacific during WW II, and always enjoyed attending his Navy Seabee reunions.

Al was community minded all his life. He was a 78 year member of Acacia Masonic Lodge F & AM in Taylor, was a 32* member of Keystone Consistory Valley of Scranton, the Countryside Community Church, the Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Co., and a volunteer for the Red Cross. After retirement he became Secretary/Treasurer of Ransom Twp., a position he held for fourteen years, retiring at age 85. He served the community as a Justice of the Peace, and an Inspector at Keystone Landfill for the township. He was a member of the St. David's Men's Choir and the choir of the former Milwaukee Church. He could master any carpentry project and loved spending time with his family.

Also surviving are three sons Gary Zeiss and his wife Madelaine, Newton Twp., Kirk Zeiss and his wife Diane, and Kevin Zeiss and his wife Heather, both of Milwaukee; a daughter Tara Zeiss, Throop; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Zeiss and a brother, William Zeiss.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 am from the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Mark Terwilliger, pastor. Interment with full military honors will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from 9 to 11 am at the church prior to the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Countryside Community Church or Acacia Masonic Lodge, F & AM, 617 Union St., Taylor, PA 18517.
