Albert Szajkowski of Dalton died Sunday afternoon at the Gino Merli Veterans Center. His wife, the former Mary Lou Colbassani, died in 1998.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Cecylia Gajtka, he was a resident of West Abington Twp. for more than 30 years. Before he retired in 1981, he was an employee of PP&L for 33 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Our Lady of the Abingtons Church; American Legion Post 0966, Scranton; the National Rifle Association and the Lackawanna Audubon Society.
Surviving are three sons, Frank, Oakland, N.J.; John, Potomac Falls, Va.; and Stephen, Dalton; three daughters, Mary Belle Gilroy, Joanne Bruno and Susan Mangravito all of Dalton; 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Abingtons, West Main Street, Dalton, with services by the Rev. John J. Kilpatrick. Interment, SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Taylor.
Friends may call Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
