Agnes Vauter, Clarks Summit, died Monday in Mercy Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vauter in 2002.

Born in Forest City, daughter of the late Anton and Maria Urbas Bokal. She began her career with State Service in Montrose, later moving to Washington, D.C. Where she worked for the Dept. Of State. She moved to Pocatello, Idaho during World War II working for the Federal Government and married William Vauter whom she had known from her home town.

She returned to the Scranton area briefly and moved to Clarks Summit in 1950 and resided there untill her death. She resumed her career initially with the Internal Revenue service and later, the Penn. Dept. Of Public Welfare where she retired from service in the Office of Children, Youth, and Families.

She was proud of her state service which spanned over 32 years, and her ability to live independently until her passing. She lived her life quietly, her last days enjoyed with family, daily walks with her pet cat ,and holiday dinners with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife who will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, William and wife, Maria, Clarks Summit; and Karl and wife, Sheila, Clarks Summit; two grandchildren, Alena Shutok, Ft. Myers, FL and William Vauter, Clarks Summit; two sisters, Pauline Bokal, Forest City and Emily Grum, Johnson City, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10am from Our Lady of The Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Forest City.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
