Adrian E. DeMarco Sr., Dalton, died peacefully Saturday morning. He was the husband of Jean Grill Stivala DeMarco. The couple had been married for 25 years.

Born in Mount Morris, N.Y., son of the late Marion and Mary Ann Scalzetti DeMarco, he moved at age 5 to Rochester, where he was educated in the Catholic schools.

Before retirement, he was a staff manager and business agent for Amalgamated Clothing Workers Local 137, ACTWU AFL-CIO, also known as Unite-Here. He was a past president of the Wilkes-Barre Golden Age Retirees Club, a cantor at St. Peter's Cathedral for 25 years, an acolyte for funeral services, and a member of Holy Rosary Church in Scranton. Adrian also served as a devoted monk for six years at St. Joseph's Abby in Spencer, Mass.

Also surviving are eight children, Adrian DeMarco Jr., Denver; John DeMarco, Canby, Ore.; Mary Ann Cavelieri, Philadelphia; Helen DeMarco, Concord, Calif.; Claire DeMarco, Hunlock Creek; Joseph DeMarco, Sugar Notch; Paul DeMarco, West Wyoming; and Theresa Stivala Kilgallon, Scranton; 10 stepchildren, William Stivala, Clarks Summit; David Stivala, Cherryville, N.C.; Michele Parfitt, Stanley, N.C.; Edward Stivala, Moscow; Kenneth Stivala, Covington Twp.; Lisa Stivala, Stanley, N.C.; Veronica Stivala, Mount Cobb; Wayne Stivala, Dunmore; Kathleen Fedor, Moosic; and Kenneth Kranick; 45 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Gerard; 12 siblings; and a grandson, Tyler Jopchak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
