Ada K. Thomas, 89, of Clarks Summit , died Sunday morning at her home. She was the wife of the late Rev. Thomas A. Thomas, who died in 1999.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Sophie Olessker Kayte. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Scranton, and was a graduate of Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, with a Bachelor's Degree in English.

Ada was very active in her church and for many years she ran its' food bank. She was proud to have been a foster mother to over sixty children.

Surviving are three sons Thomas M. and wife Patricia, Topsham, ME.; Alan P. and wife Darlene, Horsham Pa.; and Daniel C., and wife Janell, Exton,Pa.; three daughters Janice T. Poteracki and husband James, Clarks Green; Jeanne T. Bunting and husband Clyde, Gainesville Fl., and Tanya C. Beagle and husband Rodney, Clarks Summit, a sister Lillian Kayte, Gainesville Fl., nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother Albert, and two sisters Bella and Beatrice.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, at noon at the Washburn St. Cemetery, Scranton, with services by Rev. Joseph Santos, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Scranton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 1132 S. Main Ave. Scranton Pa. 18504.
